The shifter is way up at the top of the transmission. You'd have gear oil running out of your ears if it was that full! There's a plug on the side of the rear housing for the level of fluid. It's about halfway up, nowhere near the shifter.

It only gets lubed from gear oil splashing around inside the transmission. Since it only moves when you shift, it doesn't need all that much.

Again, if it works, it's fine. There is nothing wrong, no need to worry. It may just be very well lubricated, while your H could use some lube. It is probably worn some, too.

Be very deliberate when you shift, moving straight ahead/back to shift out of gear, and straight side-to-side to select a different gear. Don't try to cut corners or you may end up putting the tractor in two gears.

If it is shifting, and not jambing between gears, it is OK. The amount of wear on them can cause them to be free. Removint the lever, and putting grease on the dome seal and pivot area would be nice to it. If it is giving trouble the tip needs to be built up and ground down to just fit into the rail slots Several images are inthe archives.JimN
