The price seems good, If it has been operated by you for an hour or so, it would help your analysis. There is only one tire idea I would state that is go with firestone, not off brand tires. The TA is a no brainer. It is moved from direct (forward) to reduction (handle back) without the clutch, and as rapidly as possible in both directions. Do not hesitate at all going through the middle of the lever stroke. Itwill feel like a two speed automatic trans shifting to drive when putting it forward into direct, and like a downshift when pulling it back.Do these. 1} Use the TA as much as the clutch (often) they thrive on being used. 2} Use it while tilling to slow for a corner while pulling. 3} Use it to get through hard spots in tillage when the engine is pulled below its torque peak. (on a 300 that is about 1400rpm) or seat of the pants feel like it should be in the next liwer gear. 4) To lessen the ground speed to accomodate conditions. bushhogging heavy spots, baleing a thick windrow, etc. to keep the PTO at speed. 5) go slow while backing (works in regverse as well as forward) Do not use it to 1} slow down-down a hill It is free wheeling when in TA (reduction) and if moved faster than the tractor would go in that gear can self destruct. It is not a coasting option. 2} tow the tractor to start it in TA, it has the same speed limits as #1, and will not turn the engine (freewheels) 3} leave the tractor sitting, it is not a park position, as it can roll forward, or backward if left in reverse. 4} do not avoid using it, it thrives on use. Our 350U has the original TA and clutch with two engine rebuilds on it, and it is used all the time. I hope this answers your questions. JimN
