I've read at a few places that a quantity of only 1500 'BN' models were made, but many more B's, and the serial #'s were mixed in with the A, B, BN's.

Any truth to this?

The tractors built in LOUISVILLE started with 200,000. This was in 47 production stopped for retooling of the SA and C Last ones were in AUGUST. My brother has the B that was delivered around 15th AUG. The Cs were on display at the IOWA STATE FAIR latter part of AUG probaly around the 20th.

I think you may be off by one "0" Ken.

Guy Fay's IH Tractor Data Book says there were 14,967 BNs made.

The SNs were interspersed with the As and Bs, and all the A variants. If you think of it as all three having the same basic crankcase, so the serial numbers were put on the engine coming off the line. As the tractors were built, the engine SN was applied to the right tag for the tractor. At least for those made in Chicago. Don't know that that was the exact process, but it gives you the idea. The same book says there were 117,552 straight (not including Internationals or Supers) Farmall As made, and 75,241 Bs

Those made in Louisville, it seems the first 1000 of the As,Bs and BNs the numbers matched up bu after that, not necessarily.

The only info I have right now says that 1968 BN's were built at the Louisville plant, so if any were built at the Farmall plant there were more than 1500.
