I have a 1958 Farmall 460 row crop with a wide front end. Whats rare is it dose not have a TA!!! It has a straight shaft running front the clutch to a bearing housing in the front of the rear housing. Bearing let go wipe out bearing collar and bent shaft. Can,t fine used parts. IH shows them in old parts book. But they don't have. Was told the shaft and bearing out of a 300 will work? Need help tractor been down since April. Thanks

Short Bolt: Dave is correct, your more apt to find what you need from an early 300, Farmall or Utility, that torque tube is the same. TA was always an option, however by 1958, most dealers were ordering it as standard equipment.

Another area you made find it is Mississippi Delta, farmers down there didn't like TA, thus many were ordered without.

My father said the TA stood for "take away" in the Mississippi Delta.

300 or 350 that came without a T/A will work. Don't know if what I see is common, but I see that set up in 300 utility more than the other tractor types.
