Back on Aug 17 you suggested that I might have the left & right blades swapped. Difference? Is it the flip up on back side that some have? If so, then it probably doesn't matter on mine as they a simple flat blades, sharp on both sides. However, now that I've had time to re-visit this problem, I did notice that the bolts holding the blades to the center bar have Right hand threads on the left side of hog and Left hand on the right side of hog.(as viewed standing behind and looking in the direction of travel). I assume this it to keep from loosening these when a blade encounters a hard object?? Also, once I cleaned it up a bit, I saw remnants of decals that indicate "proper direction of rotation" with arrows showing left side as CCW and right as CW. Given some of the August posts & my visit to the local tractor equipment dealer to see new HOWSE b-hogs, I thought this was odd, in that it, as was mentioned before, then slings the debris field forward toward the tractor as well as into a position to have to re-cut it. By all indications of common sense, new HOWSE unit, some of the posts, etc. , it seems like they should be right side=CCW & left side CW. Well, at wits end trying to get this thing to cut, I flipped the center gear box upside down (casting & bolt holes line up to make this work out just fine). Cut about an acre or two for trial & I believe it is better, but need to get it back on same tractor I usually use to be certain. Another question related to right hand/left hand bolts is that now that I have reversed rotation, if they are that way to prevent loosening, I guess I need to swap them too, if I leave the rotation reversed. And if anyone, in addition to "georgeky" has any useful input on this you are certainly welcome to join in!
