It needs only moderate mechanical skills and mostly common tools. Any specialized tools you need should be able to be rented or borrowed.

You will need to have a safe way to take the front end off the tractor when you seperate the engine from the torque tube. I use hoists and engine lifts. Some use splitting stands. Just make sure you have a safe, secure way to handle the pieces so that you don't get hurt or drop them and do damage.

Get a good parts diagram so you have a picture of how it is supposed to go back together.

What type of person are you?
If you are a patient person, and take your time you can do. If you are someone who has problem solving skills, you can do it.
As a kid were you one to take risks and do stupid or reckless stuff? If you did and have not changed much, then maybe not. Safety first

Some one me no big deal but I also have a shop with hoists, jacks and a lot of time on my hands. If you haven't done it before or have a shop that is set up correctly then its hard very hard. One like that I could have it split and back togeather in a day or less, but as I said I have the equipment to do it

The tractor will need to be split in half to gain access to the flywheel. It is not that complicated, but it does require a moderately well equipped shop, some special tools such as splitting stands, and a bit of mechanical expertise. Their is a very real opportunity present to do major damage as well as get yourself hurt in the process. Get some experienced help the first time you do this.

I agree, and Ill add anytime you do something major have the repair manual by your side AND read about what your doing several times before starting. Dont read it the first time as you take it apart.
