Hi,

We have an international 384 that will run fine for about 1/2 an houyr but then stop sounding like it had run dry. We have purged the fuel system multiple times to try to fix the problem to no avail. Any advice on what may be causing this problem will be appriciated.

Thanks,

Erik

Hi Eric, when the 384 stops disconnect the fuel line at the inlet to the fuel lift pump on the right side of the engine block and catch the fuel in a clean bucket. If the fuel dosen't flow the full of the pipe then the problem is between the tank and the fuel lift pump. If there is good flow then the problem is between lift pump and injection pump. My brother had a similar problem with his 684, it would die down under heavy load sometimes stop. If you blew compressed air from fuel filter line back to fuel tank it would run great for a while. Turned out there was a dead lady bug floating around in the tank and every once in a while in would get sucked into the fuel outlet.

Good luck

Fuel tank and lines likely need cleaning. Not real familiar with the 384. Does it have the tank behind the seat like other 84 series, or is it under the hood like the 444 it replaced. Anyhow, I would start by cleaning the tank, lines and new filters.
