Anyone know where to get a replacement cork for my gas cap fuel guage? Seems to me I saw an ad somewhere but can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance, Bob

You can have mine but it won't be cheap. You can buy them on eBay as well. It is 1/4" too long to fit a Cub so I assume it was designed for A,B,C and similar sized gas tanks. It will also attach to a deep 400-450 fuel tank but when it reads empty you will still have ten gallons left in the tank.

I am writing this in the "Modern" version and can't see how to activate my email. You can reach me using wardner at peoplepc.com

I have a NOS gage and, of course, it has a new cork. Can't see how those gages are serviceable. Don't worry, I am not going to take mine apart.

It would seem to me that the cork would have to be ripped in half, installed and glued together again.

If you don't have enough residual material to get measurements, the cork is two inches long by one and one half inch in diameter. The center probably has a quarter inch bore. The clearance slots that run in the guide rails are one quarter by one quarter inch.

I am sure if you used google you could find some cork. There are probably some plastics that would work just as well. To make the cork float, it would be helpful if you had a lathe but I suppose a deep hole saw would work. If you need some pictures, let me know.
