I did one on my SMTA a few years back and believe it is similar. As mentioned, get a repair manuel, either blue ribbon or IT, preferably both. A parts book helps also. There are some bolts that are hard to find without the manuel. Cost will vary depending upon what you need to do. I was able to get by with rebult ramp and rollers, my ta clutch plate and preseure plate were ok, You may want to replace your tractor clutch while you got ti split. I built some split stands to hold the front like the ones shown in IT manuel. I had one for the rear that was ok when only the transmission housing was on it but a bit weak when I hung ta tube back on. I used a tractor loader to take center tube out. The long line up bolts really help, seems like the rear ones were 5/8 and front are 3/4 but can't remember for sure. If you are mechanically inclined you can do it.

I am doing one now and will be doing the second one after I get some painting finished. The input shaft coupler is $50 on line or $75 at IH. If you are lucky you will not need to replace it. I bought a repair DVD for $25. It helps to have, but it is overpriced for the quality provided. The repair kits are available from Kevin Meier at a better price than IH. I got the gaskets and roller kit for about $128. If you need to replace the ramp, that kit is $128 without the gaskets, but has the rollers.
I turned the shaft that the rollers ride against myself. I don't know if others do that or not.
The splined shafts are going to have some wear also. Kevin watches for this type of post, talk to him.

You need a rubber band and split the tractor into 3 pieces. Also get some long 3/4"bolts to help alighment when putting it back together.Get the service manual and follow the steps and you will find out what the rubber band is for.
