I looked at a M today. SER # FBK2780?1. It leaks everywhere it can leak. I've got a call in to the owner. Talked to his wife and it runs. Really good sheet metal. Changed to 12 V.BAD tires on rear. Any ideas on worth? I didn't have my camera but in this area a M is not common. David.

Wow, I feel like a schmuck now. I spent $2000 on my M with a completely rebuilt motor (to Super M specs), rear axle leaks like a sieve (still trying to fix it), 12 V conversion, checked rears and still put another $850 in it for a Saginaw hitch (which I love by the way). It looks barely red anymore but fires up on the first crank and I still spent too much? Nothing special? Wanna buy it?

Ive got one that Id let go for 1500, but it needs tires, but the engine was rebuilt last year, and has a few other things changed. Youd have to haul it from SC. Ms are a dime a dozen here.(Oh the hydrulics will need fixed.)

But Jim, it's a M. The owner said he had the head rebuilt. I didn't mention he said the hydraulics work, He thinks! I'll just have to check it out. It's a good looking greasy tractor. David.

Wheere in Ga are you looking for M's. I dont really think a leaking M with bad tires is worth more thanmaybe 1200. I bought two new tires and tubes for mine and they are expensive. !5.5's were cheaper than 12.8's two years ago.. There are a lot of M's in Tenn. if you are near there.

Rebuilding the head only, without replacing the rings, etc, can actually increase oil consumption. IH built about 300000 M's. Good tractor but nothing special about it.

Jim is correct -- but even with good tires, an M is seldom worth $2000. $1200-$1500 is more like it, perhaps as low as $900 Jim suggests because of the leaks. I would look elsewhere.

That's way too expensive. Pass on it.

900 would allow for the tires and leaks to make a 2000 tractor (not including labor) JimN

To me $2000.00 seems real high by the time you put tires on it and fix the leaks. Having just had a head done for an M they are not cheap to have done. Still for that kind of money I would think you could get a M with good tires and in good running order.

900 would be max to pay, The needed additional money would buy the tires and some of the leak repair material (no labor) when done, a person would have a 2000 tractor (or so) The price at 2000 is 1100 too high I was not very clear. The Modern view can mix and match posts when viewed on the old style format. I was the original poster, and did not know the asking price. JimN
