Does anyone know how to bleed the air out of the injection pump on a IH 484? I think thats the reason why it wont start. I have a repair manual and it explains how to do it on the other tractors the manual covers but doesnt say anything about the 484. I looked at it and cant figure it out.

When I was working on it I removed a plate on the side of the pump and fuel came out. It ran before this but now it wont start. I figured there must be air in it.

What you do that for? I didn't find a bleeder on mine. Kinda dark in there right now, but didn't see one. Try like I said in other reply and see if it starts. I think it will. Mine always has and I have ran it out of fuel several times.

Whoever had this tractor before just cobbled everything together to make it work so Ive been trying to fix it. I tried it for weeks now and it still hasnt started even with either. I guess Ill try it again tomorrow.

Are you getting fuel to the filters? The fuel tanks on these are notorious for clogging at the fittings at bottom of tank. What all did you do when you had that plate off?

I didnt do nothing with the plate off, just needed to remove one of the screws and fuel went all over so I quick put it back on. It the plate that says not to adjust the pump or you can damage the engine. I thought it was just the marks for the timing behind it but there was fuel there.

I had a 784 once, and the first thing to do is to fill the fueltank right full, because everything is gravety flow to the fuelpump.

Shouldn't need to. Bleed the filters then turn it over and hit the either injector, should start. Don't remember ever bleeding the pump on any of our 84 series. Don't even remember if there is a bleeder. If there is just open it and wait for air free fuel to run out. I will go to the barn and look at mine to see if there is a bleeder.
