I know the 826 diesel engine has weights bolted to the crank to balance it, which is fine as long as they stay bolted. Ours threw one off one time but the crank was ok. I've heard of others bending the crank when this happened.

The 310 in the 756 has weights bolted to the crank to. Both the 310 and 358 were built in Nuess Germany.

Our 826 had weights on the crank. I remember personally picking one out of the oil pan 1 time. Did they put some 310's in 826's?

Hi, They are vertualy the same except the 826 has a longer stroke, increasing the engine from 310 cubes to 358. The 756 will have 75-80 HP, the 826 will be in the low 90's. The 756 has a Duetz built engine assembled in the USA, so it has all SAE bolts and measurements, the 826 engine was assembled in Germany so it has metric. I have a 756 with 9600 hrs. very happy with it, have always heard good things about any 826 around here. Chuck

Both engines were built in Germany at the same factory.

The 826 has a larger radiator that make the tractor about 2 inches taller than a 756 with the same size tires.

Hi Owen, I don't remember the source that told me the 756 was assembled here. If not why do they have SAE? Have a good day, Chuck

The 756 engine is NOT a Duetz, it is an IH 310, assembled in Nuess, Germany. It does not have SAE mountings, it mounts the same as any IH tractor engine.

Hi K.B. It was my local mechanic that told me the IH german diesels were made by Duetz, If he is not right I would appreciate knowing your source. By SAE I mean they have all standard American bolts and wrench sizes, the 826 has metric, is that not right? Thanks for your input, Chuck

Chuck, I guess I couldn't give you a specific source, just that I have been around the IH German diesels my whole life, having five of them on the farm. A D-239 was the first diesel I ever had apart. They are definetly NOT a Duetz, no way, they are pure IH. These engines came out of IH's factory in Nuess, Germany. Just look at the parts sometime. You'll find IH part numbers, casting codes, and logos. Why they have standard hardware, that I can't explain either, but they all had it. I just got done with some transmission work on a JD 2940, which was built in Germany with a French-built engine in about 1980. That tractor uses mainly standard hardware, with some metric here and there. The oddest part is the clutch housing casting, some of the holes are metric, while some are standard!

Hi again K.B. I realize I have stated this Duetz thing all wrong. What my mechanic meant is that they make the components of these engines, not that they are a Deutz engines at all. They are an IH and it makes no difference who they might contract with to make parts for them. The reason we were talking about this is I have a 584 and a 684, plus the 756. All have a lot of hours on the original sleeves and pistons, he said that was normal because deutz made them and they make the sleeves and rings harder than anyone else. If he is right or not I don't know, but by rereading my posts I apologize that I made It sound like they were anything but an IH engine. Glad you have set it straight. Good luck, Chuck
