I am getting ready to attempt to wire up the lights on my 560. It currently has only one light on the light bar, insulation that is coming off the wires that I am going to have to replace.

It has the same type of rotating lookign knob with three positions that our 400 did that I grew up on. Any idea what those are for?

I will be needing one of the lights for the light bar. It does not have the clamp on bracket or anything.

It does not have the rear light or bracket either that mounts to the seat area. I see a couple of bolt holes there is all. Any idea what kind of light went there??

Someone has added the big square fenders from a 656 series and there are two lights on them on the inside of those. Looks like you could add another set of lights to the outside of those as well as some sort of holes in the fenders for a rear facing or flashers or something.

Now for the million dollar question. My tractor has two 6 Volt Batteries with the positive post of the first battery going to the solenoid, then the negative post of it going to the positive post of the second battery then the netative post of the second battery going to ground. I presume this is a serial setup meaning its 12 volts.

THere is a big white rectangular resistor under the fuel tank it has a yellow wire going up to the key switch and the other looks to go to the alternator. Its a delco alternator. Somebody musta put that on there.

okay then since i have two 6 volts hooked together, I have 12 volts, is the electrical system on this thing 12 volts or was it 6 and somebody hooked up these two batteries to make it 12.

Are teh Stock light bulbs 12 or 6 volt?

anyone know what the 4th position is on the light switch?

is the 12 oclock position off or the 4th position on the switch?

Anyone know where I can get the light fixtures for my tractor?

okay now you really got me wondering

how many lights should my 560 have, looks to me like there is only supposed to be two pointing forward from the pipes coming out of the sides just in front of your right and left knees then the one pointing towards the rear that mounts somewhere under the seat

are some called headlights, work lights, road lights, etc..... .. and if so where do they mount? I dont see any place for some up at teh front grill its solid, there are a couple holes in the side near the 560 emblem do some kind of lights mount up there and position 4 on the switch turns them on??

Right. Two to the front and one to the rear. Three total. They will function differently depending on which position the switch is in.

It is a 12-volt system, always was. Two six-volt batteries in series is original, two 12's in paralell will work as well. All bulbs will need to be 12-volt units.

Positions-

1- off
2- dim road lights. Your two headlights should be on dim. Rear light should be on red. The factory rear lamp has a special bulb with a red coating on the back. It has a small white bulb at the very rear of the assembly that shines though the coating to make the lamp glow red.
3- bright road lights. Same as above exept headlights will be on bright.
4- work lights. headlights and taillight all on bright white.

The lamp assemblies might have to come from a salvage yard if you want factory original ones. The bulbs are all avalible at Case-IH.

The resistor under the tank is added to keep the alternator from back feeding the ignition circut, which can cause a gas engine to not shut off when the switch is in the off position. Since yours is a diesel, this resistor is not necessary, but it does not cause any problems by being there.

The swithc for lights has a resistor for the Dim position. The resistor is wire wound air cooled, and only capable of handeling the stock headlights. If any more lights are attached it glows brightly for a few seconds then burns out. SO
Use the regular light sw for the two regular light bar lights, and the tail light. (using stock lamps, not flame throwers)
Use a different heavier switch for the remaining lights to be used as needed. If you are a relay friendly type, you could rig a relay from the B terminal to control a relay for the other lights). JimN

I checked my switch, it has 4 positions, I was mistaken,

1-Off
2-Dim
3-Bright

4 = Ejection Seat Air Conditioning Heat - Defrost Hand-Foot Warmers

Are the headlights dual elements or dim/bright controlled by resistance of electricity through the switch?

The 3 position switch should be the headlight switch ...

O - Off
D - Dim Lights
B - Bright Lights
