ok, here is the story. my gas 354 has been acting up recently and now will not stay running for very long, after running fine for years. it is hard to start and stay running. i have to keep it choked for several minutes before it will run. during that time, it backfires quite a bit. i have replaced the following: coil, rotor, condensor, spark plug wires, spark plugs, points, fuel lift pump all with no affect. while running, at first it seems to rev higher than the throttle, then after a bit, it will come down to a normal rpm, but i can still hear some little pops while it runs. i can run it around a little bit, but after 5 min or moving the tractor, it starts to die again where i have to choke it for awhile constantly, before it will run without being choked again. could this be a timing issue? if so, how do i go about timing a 354? how could it have gotten out of time in the first place? these symptoms seemed to happen all of a sudden earlier this year, and i have not been able to use the tractor all summer. luckily it has been dry so i dont have to mow. thanks for any help you can give me.
