All four of the bores are stamped "C" but as I said before, two require a hammer and wood block and two are a hand push all the way in. Now you've got me worried with the talk about the rim cracking etc. What is the fix?? I have access to a machine shop, is a light knurl an option??

It makes my skin crawl just to mention this, but I noticed your "problem" cylinders are next to each other...Is there any chance the block is cracked between them? I hope not, but that could explain why those two are looser than the others.

Nope, no cracks. I talked to my machinist, he runs a repair service for heavy trucks and they do a lot of engine rebuilding. He said they routinely use Loctite 640 high strength sleeve retainer with great results....and so shall I ;-)

Clean the block and the sleeve with something like brake cleaner that leaves no residue. Use LocTite Primer and then LocTite Sleeve Retainer compond between the sleeve and the block. You will not have any problems with those sleeves until you want to remove them. Then you may have to bore them out of the block to remove them.

The correct fix is to either fit the block with a repair sleeve and fit your sleeve inside that sleeve or find an oversize sleeve and hone your block to fit it. The oldtimers around here coat a loose sleeve with strong iodine. Then install it making sure not to get any on the crank or places were you don't want rust. That sleeve will be permanatlly rusted in and you will have exellent heat transfer ect. Done it my self on my SH, still running fine. The trouble with a loose sleeve is the vibrations will crack that top lip off the sleeve and it will get sucked into the crank. A low rpm H or M is not as bad as the high speed 6 bangers but you still don't want them loose.
