I thought I read in here that H's came with 10 or 11 inch rims. I was told yesterday that they only had 10 inch rims on them. I looked in my owners manual, and it lists 10 inch, and nothing else.

The wheel set I was going to buy had 12.4 tires. Does that mean they had 11 inch rims? I really like the look of them, as you can see them below. I'd like to recreate that look. So what size rim should I be after?

Not too many people heading out to California, unfortunately.

They came off a show tractor, replaced for different wheels for pulling. Regardless, they aren't available, so I have to find a different option now.

The H could be bought with more than one rim size, that is in the parts manual, there could have been only one size on the early tractors, my parts manual is the latest edition. IH's recommended sizing was that the tread width of the tire could be 1 inch wider than the rim, so a 10 inch rim is suitable for a 10/11.2-38 or a 11/12.4 inch tire. In your example the 12.4 inch tire has a 11 inch tread width and will work fine with a 10 or 11 inch rim.

I wish I could. That is the set he was selling for $500 a while back. I got hold of him this week and found out he longer wants to sell them. That's why I have to start searching for a new option. I doubt I'll find anything in that good of condition for that price though. third party image

That set of tires, rims, and centers is well worth the asking price, but the other thing I have to ask myself, and I"m NOT implying anything here, since the rims have tires on them, you really don"t know just how good those rims are. I would fully expect to find some rust on the inside, that would just be normal, but usually the serious, damaging rust starts on the inside and eats its way to the outside, so while a rim can look extremely good on the outside, it could easily turn out to be totally non-useable.

Both my H"s have 12.4x38 tires on them and they are a good fit for an H and look "right" as far as size goes.

I don"t have any trouble with traction, either. Plenty of bite for the power of an H under normal conditions. I don"t run fluid, either.

A 10" or 11" wide rim should work fine on your H.

Mike, i hope what ever you find you have the opertunity to inspect them personally. I bought a tire/rim that was painted only to get it home and find that it was rusted threw under the paint.

Also bought a parts tractor that had some kind of air cleaner jammed on the pipe that i had a heck of a time getting off. Couldn't see the tanks were rotted threw till i got that cleaner off and the hood off. Sure lost a lot of money on those items. weather was cold and very windy that day and had a lond trip back to the house so my friend was ready to get on the road.

Go to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) at www.millertire.com . The H 10" rim should have an 11.2 tire ,but it's not uncommon to find 12.4s installed.

Mike, if the picture is what you can buy, do it. The earlier Hs did have 10 inch rims, but at some point that may have changed to 11 inch. The size on the tire is what gets confusing because the original tires were 10x38, and that size was then replaced with 11x38, and then that same tire became a 12.4x38. Basically the tires did not change. What did change was how the tires are measured. So it is entirely possible that the 12.4x38 tires in that picture might actually be mounted on the 10 inch wide rims, and even if those rims are 11 inch, it won't make a speck of difference.

My H has 11 inch rims with 12.4 tires. My M has 13 inch rims with 14.9 tires. but the rims will interchange. Rear tires sizes do affect what size you need for front tires to keep tractor level.
