I have a 1950 farmall C that i am working on and the other day i was scraping some grease off and found white paint under the grease. I started looking around and found more white paint in a lot of other places where the red had came off. I know that the demonstrators were painted whit but i was wondering if there was another way to tell besides the paint that i found if it was a demonstrator. and what would you guys do about it. would you paint it white and how would you document the fact that it was a demonstrator. thanks for all the help

Paint and the suspected serial number range are the only indicators. Rumors persist that there are code letters in one or another castings to identify them, but that is not correct.

There is letter on the right side of the torque that is casted upside down.
Check it out.

The upside down L means it was cast at the Louisville plant. I doubt if the upside down L has anything to do with demos -- someone would have documented that by now.

"Accepted" serial range is 47010-54411. Casting numbers should range from about 9*1*S to 3*?*T, or Sept 1949-March 1950. There could have been some red ones in that range. What you do is up to you. I have one, took it to bare metal and painted it red, simply because I don't like the way white looks. Others have their own opinions. The ONLY difference in the demos is the paint.
