Hello all, Im having trouble with my Super M, it was my grandpas tractor and im really wanting to get it running again. It was running when I pulled it in the shop about 5yrs ago. Anyway when I try to start it it floods bad, I mean it runs out the air intake. So i cleaned it, soaked it and put a kit in it, tried again with the same results. Im not experenced with this draft carb, heck or any carb for that matter. But I can hold my own. Could it be the timing? Its not burning the fuel? Any help would be great!

Thanks, Doug

If it cranks, and floods, and has not hit a lick of fire, Clean the points and check the spark to be sure it can start. drying out the spark plugs will also help. Set them on a metal plate, and warm them with a propane torch till they are dry. Do not make them glow red. JimN

I had the same problem on my A (was my Grand Fathers), that choke will do it I really never need to choke it to get it started. My A had sat for about two years in a damp garage, and would not start I had the same Carb flooding issue. When I got my head out of my but and cleaned the points she fired right up. Check for spark, clean plugs, good wires, magneto (if it has one) not grounded. I have found that it is most likely something very simple.

Good Luck,

Corey

Try not using the choke. My H is the same way pull the choke a little and you flood it bad. Don’t pull the choke and fires up every time even when it was -25 degrees last winter.

Flooding is cause by a bad float or sticking float or one set wrong. Timing has nothing to do with a flooding problem

Or,

Trying to start an IH gasser by using that damned choke. :>)

They just don't like the choke. Use it sparingly.
