Hey guys,

Here is my issue, I took the manifold off my 1946 farmall H to get brazed. I got it back yesterday and put it on, and now the governor it way over responsive. All I do is move the throttle 1/4 of the way to full and it will rev up to about full throttle and there is no inbetween. What can caues this? It wasn't that way before. It still has just as much power as before but it just revs up too soon. Also to take the manifold off I didn't touch any of the throttle rods/ controls.
Thanks,
Nick

What part of your manifold had to get brazed? Is it possible that your carb was adjusted to have the tractor run with some air getting in after the carb?
My thought being that if you have plugged up the air leaks in the system, you need to readjust your carb/governor for the new setup?

If you don't have one get an I&T manual. There are adjustments to syncronize the governer, carb and throttle control. Having removed the manifold you might have changed some of these settings and you can't reset them without a manual.

Take the side cover off of the governor and check if both weights are OK. Also the thrust bearing may have gone bad. Remember, the spring opens the throttle & the flyweights close it.

I thought the tab was the problem too but I looked at it 4 times. It is in the slot it is supose to be in. What else can it be?

There are delicate parts in the other end (accessable through that little diagonal sheet metal cap. Check there, and for binding in the tube. Check also for mystery metal on the throttle plate, or binding in the throttle shaft, JimN

The link to the carb from the governor can be moved enough (with the manifold off) to disconnect the tab and slot arrangement at the throttle. Take the tube off the carb and look at the link there. It is tricky to get together. Best guess, JimN
