I believe it was KellyC who had a website detailing how to remove the belly pump...

Here"s a little help:

I"m assuming that you want to remove those items to save weight... right?

Making a plate to cover the openenings should be easy... if you have some basic fabrication skills. The rear PTO will just pull straight out once you get the bolts out - same with the belt pulley drive, straight up once the bolts are out.

Be careful lowering the hydraulic pump - it"s heavy! Just unhook the drive coupler and remove 4 bolts and it drops.

Help my memory. I thought you couldn't get the coupling out without lowering the pump. Or is that only on an M?

I was concerned that because he described this as "doing a lot of work" that making covers would indeed be hard.

The coupling will come out with the pump still in on an H.

I think Rusty Farmall recommended on another posting to disconnect the drive coupling on the hydraulic pump. Then leave the pump alone.

Any auto parts store should have alternators. I think the GMSI-10 is used a lot on this forum. Napa has Hytachi alternators. Hal

1 It is not hard to remove the hydraulic pump, just unbolt the control arm, remove filler and all the external pressure ports, then remove the sheet metal shield underneath (if it is there) then the four bolts on the bottom and it will fall out. You might want to sell it.

2 Auto parts stores sell Japanese alternators, research the archives. Why not just use a battery with no generator and keep the battery charged?

3 Removing the PTO and belt pulley are not hard, other than draining the fluid and refilling to get the PTO off. Fabricating plates to close the openings is hard. The belt pulley consumes no power until it is engaged and the PTO consumes very little. You will gain more hp by leaving the generator off than by removing the PTO.
