All the specifications pages online say that the Farmall A with a 113ci engine was designed for 1400 rpm"s max. However the serial number plate says that it is rated for 1500 rpm"s max. We recently had it rebuilt to be a 123, my question is, what rpm"s should it be cranking out now, and also, is it safe to open up the governor to allow more rpm"s than this? what damage would it do to run it higher?

1400 is the full load rpm, 1500 is the maximum idle rpm. Max idle on the C is 1815, the engines are the same. However if you increase the rpm to C specs, the ground speeds will increase -- they are a little fast already, particularly for operations like mowing where you sometimes want a slower speed.

It should run the same. It won't hurt it to turn it up a little. 1540 is what it should turn at no load high idle. The C and Super C are rated at 1875. The A can be ran at that as well.
