Is there anywhere I can find info on McCormick tractors? I just purchased one and don"t know what age it is. Does it have a serial number somewhere. Its old blue and gray paint but I"d like a picture to see what it looks like so we can redo it.
ANYTHING on how to get info would be appreciated.

The IHC serial numbers have prefixes that ID the model. Example TG=15-30, KC=10-20, QC or T=Farmall, FS=F-12, etc. I have one or two books that list these numbers, along with the years of manufacture. If you post the number, or just e-mail me, I will see if I can match your number with a model.
And, as others say here, a lot of us old-timers who grew up with these tractors can ID them pretty much on the spot. If you can post a picture, one of us will be able to say what you have. The exception might be the difference between 15-30 and 22-36, which mostly involved a larger bore for the latter model, I belive.

Post a picture, and we can help from there. If you can't, then look up pictures as stated already, and see which one fits.

f-20's have serial no. 3 places. metal plate rivited to back side of tool box below fuel tank, top of left hand frame rail near clutch housing, and on left side of engine block- machined surface to rear of carbuertor. not sure on other models of that era. leroy

The most common would be the Regular, and the F12/14/20/30. Try searching on the tractor and vintage photo links to the left using those models until you find something that looks like it. It could be something older, but there's a good chance it's one of those I mentioned.

The model and serial numbers on most of those was on a plate riveted to the back side of the support toward the rear of the fuel tank.

There are a lot of books on the old McCormick tractors. Tractor Supply has several. Yes, there should be a serial number plate somewhere on it, usually under the gas tank. This plate should also have the model number. Then look at the "Serial Numbers" item in the left hand column. Easiest way would be to post a picture here and let us "X-Perts" help you.
