I have found a McCormick Deering 15-30 for sale. I don't know much about Farmalls and wanted to restore one since I've been restoring JDs in the past. Is this a hard tractor to find parts for? It looks like most everything is there and it's on steel. It even has the side curtains still on it. I was wondering if they're hard to restore or get parts for or if any other tractors interchange with them? I do know it's stuck and not sure how hard it will be to get it running again? I know the question gets asked alot but based on what I've told you and not knowing much else about the tractor, I'd like to get a ballpark figure to offer the guy. Thanks for any positive info.

Just a quick comment: There were 2 models of the 15-30. The second model was eventually labeled 22-36. I think the difference is in the bore. At first, I believe that IHC called the changed tractor "the new 15-30." Somewhere I probably have this info, and will look it up and pass it on if I can find it.
Might affect your search for parts for the engine. Did the increased bore mean a different block?
Don't know. These tractors had cylinder sleeves, so maybe the change could have been made just in the sleeve. Or would a slightly larger bore in the same casting have allowed a sleeve with a larger bore? Thinking out loud and obviously
not giving much useful info.

Len,

No problem, think out loud all you want. This is the kind of information I'm looking for. Thanks again for your information.

Thanks again for all of the feedback. He hasn't put a price on any of them yet. I also forgot to mention he has 3 cubs: 2 that are around 1947 - 51 and a yellow and white cub. I'm really leaning toward the 15-30. How much does one of these weigh?

1951G

I have a running 1927 McCormick Deering 15-30 (amongst other McC. Ds, numbered Farmalls and lettered Farmalls and the 15-30 is one of my favorites.
Way more cool than a conventional (non-rare) lettered Farmall though they are cool to.

My suggestion to you is to purchase a runner. Running 10-20 and 15-30 McC D's are some of the best bargains you can find in tractor land today. $1500 will get you a good running original while you can easily get $2,000 - $3,000 or more into a rebuild. Go McC D!!!!

Our neighbor had a 15-30 that he only used for belt work. It had solid rubber over the metal wheels so he could run it out on the roads. He did custom grain threshing back in the 40's and 1950. He used it for his own silo filling too.

He also had a M, Regular, F12, and a Super C for sale. All of these are not running and appear to be stuck. They did look complete though. I'm wondering which tractor would hold its value better along with the 15-30?

New 15-30 parts are a little hard to find, but there are a lot of them out there so you can mix and match one together without a lot of trouble. The side curtains are probably the hardest part of the tractor to find. As far as holding value, I really don't know. If you are not hung up on having the "oldest", I would also drag home the Super C, they are a really handy user friendly machine, especially with a FastHitch or a 3-pt.
