just a intrest question for f series tractors

I love antique tractors!

Decided to bring it back to Holland and did some badly needed work to the engine & other peripherials. It had steel on the back and dual rubber up front at the time. Did a 50' restoration about 8 years ago on it. Found a parts tractor with good 36" rubber rims on it and have since bought all new rubber for the tractor.

I live in a neighborhood of ranch style houses, thus it doesn't have much of a chance for any farm work. The kids, and my dad, enjoy driving it around the neighborhood though.

Have had a couple F-20's come and go, and currently have a W-30 as a partner to the F-12.

Ugly things, they are, but something only an old-iron person could only love.

When I was growing up,I remeber this rusty old bucket of bolts sitting out near the edge of the woods near our barn.Sat for many years. My Dad told the story of it and how it got it and I never thoguht that mcuh about it until one day I decided I wanted to hear it run, so dad and I spend all day getting it running. I was 10 or 11 at the time. I came home from work one day years later and Dad had called and left me a message on the answering machine to call so I did. He told me how one of the guys who use to work for my great grandfather, who owned the old rust bucket, wanted it and after some dickering he took it home on the condition of when he died we got it back. I was upset because of the memory of dad and I getting it running that day, but this is what started me in collecting, even though we had worked on just about every letter series, since thats what we farmed with. dad died in Sept 1999, and the guy found out about it and I got it back. Ive added some things to it and will soon be re-restoring it since it wasnt the best job, but I have taken it to several shows since I got it back, and Dad is right there beside me.

I didn't (and won't) do a museum-quality restoration where the tractor comes out better than it left the factory.

I do take it to the occasional tractor show, but that is not my main purpose for having it.

I use mine any time I can find an excuse, mostly for pulling trailers and occasionally pulling a small disk. At the moment, those are the only drawbar implements I have access too. Had a manure spreader but never used it as I compost all my manure and bedding and sell the compost. Looking for a single-bottom trailer plow, have been for several years.

There is some nostalgia involved, as Dad had an F-20 sitting in the shed when I was a kid. This would have been in the early 50's and the F-20 wasn't running. He traded it and a John Deere H towards a McCormick SW6 sometime before 1960.

Here's a shot of my F-20 pulling a 12ft IHC dump rake. Doesn't get everyday use, mainly when I've mowed in tight areas like around buildings etc. where it's too much trouble to get the normal haying equipment in there. Also use it to pull a road drag, drag fallen trees/limbs, etc.
