I have a 1957 Farmall Cub (S/N 201850) and the brake bands have worn down. Unsure of how to remove and replace. Any directions would be appreciated.

You must remove the final drives to replace the brake bands. Do one side at a time, as these tractors are offset and things can get unstable if both sides final drives are off at the same time. While you have the final drives off, you might as well replace the shaft seals too. There is a shaft seal on the transmission side and also one on the final drive side. If they are leaking, oil can get on the brake bands and ruin them. On the cub, the final drives are not real heavy, so it's not too big a job.

Teh finals have to be removed, after that it is pretty easy. there are 2 different type bands, one for the toggle link system, and one for the straight( had rod welded to band).
