Sorry haven"t got back to thank you all from my past posting, by the way I am in Orfordville, Wisconsin. Here is a question that I stumped my IH dealer on maybe someone knows the answer.
I am replacing gaskets on the Power Take Off Drive Unit on my 350, also have TA so hopefully I am calling this the right thing. Well this unit is right behind the engine. On the drive unit is a metal plate , that the IH dealer is calling a rear clutch housing cover, looks like the letter T at the bottom of the plate at the lower end of the T are two holes on the casting on either side of the T well these seem to be dripping fluid. I looked at my 560 Farmall it has somewhat of the same kind of set up and there seems to be a plug in one side but not the other. No leaks on the 560. Any ideas what these holes are? Have not put fluid back in yet. When I drained the unit it seemed to have enough fluid in it so I am not sure if this was a leak or just fluid caught up inside the holes and when I cleaned the area. Any Ideas? thanks in advance.. PS one other question, under the seat is a handle that has a curved hook on it, it comes off and to my best guess it is to loosen the clips on the fast hitch from the drivers seat. thanks again.. Pat

The holes in the bottom are mount holes for (I do not know what), but they are through the casting into the clutch TA cavity. A "dry" area. If fluid is there, it could be engine oil. or Hytran. Either one is (I believe) not supposed to be there. To fix the seals, requires splitting. If a user, ignore it. If a high quality restore of a valuable tractor (and it is rare and valuable) then splitting is needed.
THe hook is for the FH latches. Another loop is the brake lock, but that is smaller and not confusable with the loose hook. Good luck, Did you find the photo I posted in the tractor photos of the 350 Hi Utility several months ago? JimN

I do not know the status of the 460 Hi Utility. Others may know the number produced etc. Any tractor with A back hoe and loader can be looked at with a fine toothed comb. The use of attachments is very hard on tractors designed for farm use. If it stood the test, and the bushings and cylinders on the attachments are OK, and not trashed, I think it is a good value at that price point. If it proves to have intrinsic value as a rare unit so much the better. JimN

Thank you Jim. Yes I did see the pic, I see from that photo that the air cleaner stack goes through the hood where mine has the side vent in the hood. What do you mean by "Splitting" ? Pat

Taking the tractor apart in the middle at two places. Thus having access to the engine rear main, the TA, and the trans input shafts. All of these have seals that could be leaking into the housing. A paper test can pinpoint the issue. take a drop of the oil comming out of the hole and put it onto a piece of printer paper. then put a drop of engine oil on the paper near it, but not on it, (they will spread) then take a drop of hytran from the dip stick in the resivoir, and put it near the other drops. aone will match up, the other will not.
