What's its worth? Should I sell it?

I got an oil pan from a junk yard Friday. The top petcock was replaced with a dipstick. I just finished cleaning it up and it looks real good. I was told they go for good money on Ebay.
So, part of me wants to sell it because it isn't original, and I need money to get my tractor running and restored. Part of me doesn't want to sell it because it's a neat little feature.
What are your opinions? Remember: Show tractor, shooting for original when all possible.

I'll ask around in my tractor club for a splitting stand to borrow.
Thanks

Keep the dipstick and use it! "Correct" tractors are a dime a dozen. Little things like that dipstick makes it your tractor (like a painter signing a painting). Also there is no mess with a dipstick when checking your oil as there will be when using the petcock. Years ago I think my dipstick came from TSC. Did you get your front wheel off? I got to thinking the front part of the splitting stand would be the safest way to support the front of the tractor, I think in an earler post you said you had the plans for them. Would be much better than blocks and you can always them later. Armand

I have a dipstick in my 1949 John Deere A. Looks just like your picture.

Anybody know who originally made or sold these. Looks pretty neat! They wouldn't still be available someplace are they?

Just my opinion Mike, But what catchs my eye at a show is the neat little things that set one H or M apart from the rest of them. Like M & W 9 speeds or single front wheel. I think your dipstick is one thing that will set it apart. Neat item.
