Hi guys,

My Dad bought this IHC F-4 magneto on eBay for $16.50. It is a F-4 used on the F-12, F-14, F-20, F-30 etc, etc. It has a different looking coupler and front than the other F-4 magnetos that I've had so far. The coupler looks larger and it has two clips on the front, is this for a different model tractor? All the rest of the magneto looks the same as a regular F-4 magneto. Is this for a earlier tractor or something?

Thanks,
Andy.

I would be interested in the coupler if your interested in getting rid of it.

Its F-4, but it is an early one. Everything but the impulse looks the same cause it is. You actually have an F-4 mag with an E-4A impulse coupler. It was used on the earlier F-20s, 30,s and 12s. That is the same style that I have on my 34 F-12.

The E-4A mag was used on the Farmall "Regular" among other tractors.

You betcha.

Oh and I forgot to mention those little clips hold a dust cover of sorts arond the impluse so that the dust, rocks, etc do not get back down inside the impulse or by the driveshaft.

If you take it apart be careful with the coil springs inside, I had one break when I was puttting it back together. Luckily I already had a parts one with a spring that was good.
