I am looking for a good shop manual for my 130. What I find available are the IH-201 I&T Shop Manual which covers alot of tractors including the 130. 224pages. Also available is a Service Manual GSS100/140Set. Which is the better of the 2 if anyone has experience with these?

I"m leaning toward the I&T Shop Manual. Available in Canada from Haugholm Books. $38Cdn.

Hugh,
Here"s a link with the listing of tractors IH 201 covers.
Thanks for looking in. I was feeling very brave last night and thought, "No tractor split is going to scare me!"

It will be good experience. I"ve split a couple Cubs thus far with little to no problems so the 130 should only be heavier. Thinking of making a wheeled stand(s) to roll the 2 halves apart.

I think I should be able to disconnect the clutch shaft right at the input of the trans. unlike the Cub where you have to pull the whole shaft back from out of the clutch pilot until you clear the torque tube.

Also, I think a rear split should be easier as the Touch Control tubes will not have to be removed.

Ed: Looking at the number of tractors they crammed into IH-201, it can only be a watered down version of my IH-21. When you look at the list, included are 3 completely different tractor concepts; smaller IH with transmission driven PTO, then mid sized with IPTO and the Brits with two stage clutch. They've crammed a lot into that book. I'd want to see one before I bought. It's 12 pages per tractor, at least my old book devoted 17 pages per tractor and it was skimpy enough.

Ed: Looking at the number IH-201 and 224 pages, I expect what you have is an newer expanded version of my IH-21 at 157 pages. Does it cover 100, 130, 140, 200, 230, 240, 404 and 2404? Very likely it has more detail than my book and if less tractors, probably quite a bit more detail.

I could never see including 230, 240, 404 and 2404 in with the others. While they share some items with 100, 130, 140 and 200 the hydraulics are quite diffeent and a quite few pages deal with hydraulics in my book.

While I've never seen it, I like the sound of Service Manual GSS 100/140, might just be combined version of the Blue Ribbon Service manual IH put out for each tractor at time of manufacture. I have a copy of Blue Ribbon for my 140 and like it. I do find myself going to both to figure out some things. Leads me to believe, no one is perfect at date of my manuals. Could be both these new ones are perfect. There you go, I didn't solve much for you.
