300 vs 350 Operators Manual

Hello: I was about to place another order for manuals and was wondering if anyone knew just what the difference was between two Binder Books "Operator manuals" (both rowcrop Farmalls). The 300 manual: #1004380 at 110 pages. The 350 manual: #1014021 at 102 pages.

Is the difference only those 8 pages? There are a couple other manuals that are cover both. Maybe the 110 page manual will contain everything for both and just ignor the 8 pages when reading for the 350? Just wondering? I have both tractors. Anybody have both manuals? Thanks agpilot

One thing you will find differant - the 350 manual will tell you to use Hytran (or actually its equivelant back in the 1950s) in the transmission and the 300 manual will tell you to use gear lube (80W or there abouts). By the time the 350 rolled out IH had finally learned the TA didn't like heavy oil.

agpilot: Just maybe IH had more efficient manual writers in 56 compared to 54. Think about it, 350 has a few things different from 300, yet they are probably no more or less difficult to describe. Your saying 300 which was gas only, 110 pages, 350 gas is 102 pages, Roger's diesel manual is 104 pages. Could be that by 1956 long winded writers like me were no longer in vogue.

One would naturally say you should have the manual labeled for the tractor in question, 350 did develop more hp and on Nebraska test, also the drawbar hp was much closer to pto hp than 300. Tells me it might have been more efficient, then I haven't looked at gallons of fuel per hp hour on both or not recently enough to remember. 300 was a gas hog and I seem to remember 350 gas was more fuel efficient. Remember that gas hog drove IH to find a diesel before 350 production.

The fast hitch was probably the biggest difference, but I think IH printed a separate manual for hitches.

I have no Idea what the exact difference might be. but the 350 manual would need to cover a diesel option, several hitch changes, and a few other minor items. So the Choice might be the 300 manual if it has more detailed info. Just a guess. Why not both!, cheaper than a bad habit. JimN

I have a 350 diesel operators manual and it is different than the 300 and 350 gas tractor manuals. By the way, it is 104 pages. Roger
