Big Fred, thanx for the info, I have wondered about a 460 unit. Problem I have had is that I haven't been able to find a good used power steering unit for my 300U. I need one too, since I put a loader on it. I did find a guy making a aftermarket kit, but it is $1300. If things work out, I may do that? I think with the swept front axle on these tractor, gives you very little mechanical advantage. I have thought about making longer control arms that connect to the top of the spindle, that should give me a little more leverage. But I need time, which I seem to have little of lately. Power steering guy is jackson power steering.

No idea where you'd get one, but the toughest part of installing one is probably either getting at that third starter bolt or getting the cotter pin back in the throttle lever shaft. Two tasks not intended for clumsy people with big hands.

You need to remove the steering wheel, then the dash, then the gas tank, in order to get access to the power steering unit. It's bolted to the transmission and has a stabilizing bracket that ties it to the engine. Lifts right off.

The priority valve mounts to the hydraulic reservoir, inboard of the fast-hitch valve (in my case at least).

Yes, the 300U and 350U power steering units were identical, and the 460U power steering unit is almost a direct drop-in replacement, though it uses few of the same parts.

Yes. Four things are important The first is it needs either a priority valve in the existing hydraulic sys to provide power, or a seperate pump for power.<
Second the used units are rare, and may not be in servicable condition.
Third There is a company making kits for this purpose that are not stock (correct police will note the difference) but has had high acclaim. Many have adapted a hydrostatic combine steering system to fit with very good success and more power.
Look here in the archives, and Google it for more info, I cannot even come up with a name. JimN

Yep they make them for the 300U. For some reason every 300U I have seen was a bear to steer with out powersteering
