I am looking at an 826 with the serial number 2510132U013195*. They think that it might be a demonstrator but they are not sure. I cant find that serial number in any book that I look in. Does someone out there know what year it is and what numbers were demonstrators or if all 1970 models were demonstrators. Thanks

demos were in 1970, look for gold paint coming through. Seen a few where its not hard to find, others had to open hood at air cleaner, usually really easy to spot when taking off hood tin. Repaints dont usually get at all overlaps.

Look on the left side of any YT page and click Serial Numbers under the Research & Info.

It is a 1970. But not all 826"s produced that year were demos.

The only way I know of to tell if it is a demo is by the gold paint.

Is there any gold paint under the red?

Gary

They were built 1969, 1970 & 1971. Most were built in 1970; only a few in 1969 -about 603. 8199 or so in 1970 and not too many in 1971 since sometime in 1971 the 766 came out(the 826's replacement when Int went from the 56 &26 series to the 66 series. Some were gear drives (16 speed with the TA) some were Hydros. I'd guess the gold demonstrators were 69's & hydros-but I'm just guessing about that.
