I'm trying to help my neighbor with his 895 he uses for hay cutting/baling. The problem is the steering wheel has alot of vibration. It's enough to make your hands sore after a few hours of operation. The tractor steers easily and seems in good shape with all the oil changes documented in the owners manual. My neighbor took it to a dealership and they ran diagnostic tests on the hydraulic system but couldn't find anything wrong. At some point the hydraulic pump was changed for a less GPM unit but the vibration got worse. It also gets worse when hot. My neighbor has spent a few thousand trying to get this issue resolved. Does anyone have any experience with this type of problem? One more thing. He keeps the remote lever up at all times and uses 2 valves mounted on the fender for dual remotes. Could this have damaged something and be causing this problem?

another couple thoughts:
it could be in the mcv. lots of valves in there, such as a priority or flow control valve.
or
does the parking brake work? if not, i bet the screeens inside for the pump and possibly some components in the mcv are plugged with brake dust, which is really common on those machines.

Thanks for the replies. I dumped the fluid and changed the filter. Refilled with the Case IH ultra fluid. Dropped the plate with the powershift solenoid and checked the orings on the oil tubes. We had trouble with these in the past on a 684. Removed/inspected the fluid regulator spool at the MCV. Removed/inspected the relief valve at the MCV. I also tried it with the remote lever in neutral. None of this has really changed it. The steering wheel and lines going to the steering valve still buzz. The lines going to the steering cylinder don't buzz. It's better with the wheel in a neutral position, but as soon as you turn the wheel and fluid starts going to the steering cylinder the condition gets worse and lines going across the top of the transmission start to buzz. It gets worse with rpm. The book shows a relief valve at the steering valve (book calls it a hand pump). I am wondering about this relief. Doesn't look easy to get to. One more clue. The brakes are real spongy. Any other ideas?

to add to the "normal"-ness of the vibration: i've seen where there's an engine/drivetrain vibration that manifests in shaking the steering wheel/shaft fiercely enough you can see it from about 5 feet away.

you can check if the vibration is coming from elsewhere by putting a bottle of coke on the hood, speed tranny cover, etc. and watching the coke shake. if it doesnt stay there more than 30 seconds, definitely have a vibration in the engine/drivetrain. if it stays put, see if the movement of the coke matches what's felt on the wheel--heck try to balance it on the center cap of the wheel too.
unfortunately many tractors aren't designed for operator comfort and ergonomics.

I've spent many hours on an 885 cutting hay with a haybine. After a few hours it feels like your hands are falling asleep. Ours did this since new so I just figured that's the way it is. It never gets to the point of being painful but can be annoying.

see what happens if that remote is put to neutral. if it goes away, and if there is not a return to sump from the fender mounted ones, likely it's his plumbing causing the vibration. someone posted a good way to add extra valves about a month ago for me on a 685 (same basic chassis).

good luck
