I have a 1949 Super A [S/N 280611]. It has a Carter UT carb, but I don't know what number. A repair kit I bought at TSC that was supposed to fit my serial number, but doesn't. Mine has a larger needle seat and the bowl gasket is slightly different. My manual says it should be a UT733 or UT734 but I haven't been able to find anything on the internet on those numbers. Any help would be apreciated.

I got a kit at CAR QUEST and it has 4 gaskets that fit 4 different carbs worked good for me with my herd of different carbs on the As and Bs

Bill: I'm guessing you have the same carb as on my Super A. No one has ever heard tell of it when I go for carb parts. Carter UT 659. That number is cast on rim of base that attaches to manifold.

This summer I needed the gasket between the two halves, everything CaseIH had on shelf, (gasket) was different shape. His book didn't show my carb part number. He suggested I let him try ordering from CaseIH using my part number. Next morning he called, said, I've got you gasket. It fit perfect. My tractor is serial number 336977, some distance from yours. I'm not certain this is an original carb.

I have a carter carb on my Super A and it runs great! I rebuilt it about 5yrs ago. I bought another one a while back and I can not find a complete kit for it. The kit I got has about 6 pieces in it and I need a few more than that.

I have a C with a Carter UT, but it seems most of the Farmalls had Zeniths on them. The carter is not a bad carb, but kind of hard to find parts for and not real well known. I had a hole in my float, and never did find one. I ended up cleaning it up and soldering the bad place and using it. I bought my last kit at the dealer, but need to put one in myself, as the needle leaks some.

There should be a tag with the number on the carb, it might of had a tag that was held on by one of the screws that holds the carb together and was not put back on, best is to place a picture or try to match it up with the correct kit. Lots of As, Bs, And Cs have had replacement carb put on throught the years. A local carquest store should be ababile to match a kit up to your carb. Hope this helps.
