Hello All!

After going to try and fire up the M last week, I realized that my sediment bowl had an ice cube in it instead of gas. So I pulled it off and emptied it out, and now of course the gasket that had been there for eons is leaking.
Does anyone know the NAPA number for this gasket/seal? I have the IH number from my parts book, but I wasnt sure if anyone here had already gone to get one and could save me some hassle with the parts guy.

Any help is appreciated!

~Bug

Glad to hear you are all still with us Jim! Luckily (or unlucky for me I suppose) I was out in the wind trying to play with the frozen gas, so no worries about a spark for me.

Thanks for that part # Dan! Im gonna write that one down before I lose it.

And there is supposed to be a screen in the bowl?

I do not know the # but they are as common as empty beer cans. They are found on gas caps and many products. I have found that a Buna-N seal (same shape, different compound)is more forgiving to the shape of things and lasts longer. My brother and I were almost blown to bits from our SH having a ice issue that pushed off the Glass bowl.
We were working under a dodge dart with a Kero powered space heater. The 500,000 btus Warmed up the ice and 15 gallons of gasoline spread out on the floor. The heater was roaring and emitting occasional sparks when we smalled gas. Looking out from the creepers, we spotted the "flood", it had gotten to one wheel of the heater. We immediately fled to the house and from the safety of the basement, shut off power to the garage. after a half hour we went back in and swept the gasoline out the door. (we did not want it ruining the rubber tires that were sitting in it) about 10 gallons went down the floor drain into a sand dry well. Whew! ~38 years ago. JimN
