What is the difference between vinyl cut decal sets, and the regular decal sets?Considering vinyl cut ones for my Super M,no experience with them.

I was looking for opinions on them from folks whose used them.

Thanks.

Wait a moment, I thought Mylar had to be put on in sections, and was bare to the paint between individual letters and such, and vinal had a reat big sticky area that is used like a giant sticker.
Personally, that bugs me, as it looks like a giant sticker instead of painted lettering.

Vinyl cut is bare between the letters. Vinyl cut looks like painted letters. Some people clear coat them after installation because it gives more of a painted on look, I have never tried that. You simply have mylar and vinyl reversed--and you don't put vinyl on in sections, as the material between the letters does not stick, it peels off and leaves the sticky letters. Much less chance of messing up.

mkirsch is correct. I will add that the vinyl cut are MUCH easier to apply.

Vinyl cut decals are cut from self-adhesive vinyl, hence the name.

The "regular" decals are printed on clear mylar, the same material those shiny balloons are made of. These may be peel-and-stick, or water transfer just like those little plastic models you or your kids probably built as a kid.

Vinyl decals are far and away better, but not original. The color goes all the way through, and the material is much more pliable to go smoothly over curved surfaces.

Mylar decals are original, and they're much less expensive (about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of cut vinyl). Unlike vinyl where "open" areas are bare to the paint, mylar decals have clear sections which can cause the paint to look discolored.
