I have a 560 D that needs a starter. Is there any other starter that will work and possibly spin the engine faster. Or if not where is a good source to get a rebuilt or new starter at a good price. Mine was rebuilt 2 years ago at a cost over $300. Someone else was trying to start it and burned it up. Just trying to avoid spending that much again. Thanks in advance

You need to find one of these places that rebuild starters and alternators and have it rebuilt. Tlhe starter on mine was not turning it over very fast and I thought I had a battery go south, but once I had the starter rebuilt " it had a ban armature in it" it works fine now. If memory serves right about a year ago it cost me $140 to get it gone through.

Hi Allen, Look for a shop that repairs electric components. There is two within 20 miles here, they will do what it needs at a fraction of rebuilts from a dealer or even NAPA or the like, and do it while you wait or the next day if they are busy. I had new bearings and brushes put in the one for the 856 recently, I think it cost 40 some bucks. Good luck, Chuck

I'm sure a used rebuildable starter can be found for less. Burned starters are pricey to repair. However it seams the cost should be shouldered by two, The person who ground yours to ash, and yourself for having gotten good out of it for years. JimN
