Shoulder surgery tomorrow morning. The H is split, flywheel and clutch off, Center section is hanging from the hoist, head is off, Parts everywhere! Guess I will go down to the shop, sit in the chair and look at it for 4 or 5 weeks.

Actually I think this is a good time to do an inventory of what I need and start shopping for parts.

May not post as much with one arm in a sling.

Take care all, Gene

I'm with Hugh, and I like your idea, too. Take advantage of the down-time to look over what you've got done already, plan the rest of the job and, as you're able, poke around to try and get in front of any problems that may be lurking.

Best wishes for a successful surgery and a smooth recuperation!

Recently I had major surgery and because of complications, I was introduced to the "wound VAC". It allows healing to happen as much as 500% faster than it might otherwise. Google: "wound vac" or check link for more details.

Rotator Cuff in reply to GeneMO, 12-04-2007 19:30:48
Gene, Before I had rotator cuff surgery some friends (and a b-i-l) scared the bejeebers out of me by describing all the pain and long recovery I was going to have. I followed the physical therapy exercises very religiously and my recovery was a nearly pain-free breeze. That shoulder is now more flexible that the other one. Makes me wonder if I should have the "normal shoulder" worked on! Eight days after the surgery I rode my mower very slowly and cut some grass....never did tell the Dr. about that. Sure made the wife mad, though.

Good luck with the surgery. Had my knees worked on a few years back and was limited for several weeks in what I could do - times like those make you appreciate just how good you have it when you are able to walk around and do most everything for yourself.

Take it easy and let it heal properly - no sense ending up back there for the same thing a few years down the road! third party image

Tie a good generous rag to the vice handle so you can wipe your operational hand off after getting it greasy. Best of fortune, JimN

Gene: All the best with the surgery.

This may seem like a bit of a glitch, however just think of the time you'll have carefully looking the tractor over, double checking your double checks. Often time these set backs just give you time to insure nothing is overlooked.

I learned a long time ago, if one going to play with old iron, never pays to be in a rush. Sometimes it just takes that medical condition to instill that in us. Again, good luck, and I'm sure you will be gracing us with your pressence very soon.

Good luck on the surgery. I had rotator cuff surgery a year ago Sept. Right shoulder and I am right handed, but can do most things with lef. I got along real good, and was back at work training a new person and doing paper work in 10 days.

Gene, is it the left wing or the right wing you get to have cut on?? And then are you left or right handed?? BTDT but I also had my knee cut on at the same time. Not fun and depending on what there going to do it may not help it sure didn't with me. Any how being down will let you think about what needs to be done so when you can you might have all your ducks in a row instead of out of line LOL. If you wheren't 100 north of me I'd come up and have that H up and running in a couple days LOL

Good luck and a speedy recovery Gene. I had my prostate out this spring and 6 weeks with a 10 lb lift limit sort of gives you time to reflect on things and get a few priorities sorted out.
