I have a early 39 H that has the word SPECIAL embossed into the front left side of the transmission case. Can some tell me what this means? I have seen alot of 39's but this is the only one I seen with special embossed on it. Is it rare?

The serial number is FBH 1327 that would make it the 827 built I think? The word SPECIAL is about 3" long with 1/2" tall letters with rivet headed looking things cast into the begining and end of the word.
The case # is 8276-D with a 8-24-I heat date.
Hope this helps ID it.

What is the serial number? That sounds rare. Look for part numbers and you or someone else could look it up in the parts manual.

Yes that is a very rare thing it would be fun to take the top off and check the gears and count teeth ect. I have a B FARMALL that he block was cast on FEB 47 and has the cutout for the hy pump it says SPECIAL cast in big raised letters below the spark plugs. The serial# starts with FAB. The production of the SA and C wasnt till several months later that yr as the B was still built till at least JULY as my brothers B has cast codes 7*23*Q DAD took delivery around the 20th of AUGUST.
