I'd like to mount a pick-up style plow on my 560, and am looking for photos. I'm guessing the frame should come off the rear axels, up under the front axel, with support coming down from the frame rails?

That looks like a good setup except the iron fitting to the reversed drawbar looks way close to that Elwood axel drive! Any kind of contact would beak that cast like a dry twig.Just my thoughts. They are rare.

Why not put the plow on an old 4X4 pickup and sit inside where it's warm while moving snow?

I have a plow on an old '78 Chevy 4-wheeler. I don't even bother to put plates and insurance on it anymore, I just use it off-road on the farm to plow snow, cut firewood, etc. Saves my other pickup(s). I have a professionally built vee plow that replaces the bucket on the loader on my H, and I think I've used it once in the last ten years.

I purchased a used Myer plow and frame from a guy last winter that was listed on this site. The plow has a wide yoke frame for the narrow front end to fit into it. The cylinder portion of the frame bolts to the front bolster on the 4 bolt holes on each side, with a support brace back to the frame rails. The hitch portion of the frame also bolts to the frame rails on the front with support arms that look like they would reach a large bolt hole in the lower area of the bell housing. I plan to modify to put on the front of my F 340 but haven"t found the time (dirtiest of all 4 letter words!!). I have a copy of the original docs. from Myer that I could try to scan & email if it would help.

Sam: I like Wardner's idea, however if it were me and if the 560 is a Farmall, I'd run those push beams right to the rear axle housings. have them butt against axle housing by means of 3/4" plate that lies flat against axle housing, large enough so it extends above and below axle housing. Then all you need is a matching plate on back side with long 5/8" bolts clamping plates to axle housing. I say this as that is exactly how IH clamped the 2000 loader to the rear axle housing.

I realize Wardner couldn't do it that way. he has some other items in his way. I like his front end mounting, go with that 100%. Just don't clamp any part of your blade to front axle.

This is a 660. The plow is an older Fisher formerly used on my F-350. I used the Fisher pump and valves as well.

I swung the 660 drawbar around similar to a Cub pulling land plows or running a grader blade. Four bolts (two would be adequate) attach the front of frame to bolster. Two bolts attach the frame to the inverted drawbar. If you want your frame to attach to the axles. you will have to use a M or H (or later) drawbar if your 560 is a Farmall. If it is an International, just do as I did.

I have more pics.

Wardner: I like your design. One question, why did you use the Fisher pump as opposed to hooking the Fisher control into one of the tractors remote valves? I'm sure you have a good reason, however the answer may help a lot of folks.

If I were putting a blade on any tractor 300, 350, etc. or larger these truck plows are the way to go in my opinion. I looked at them before I built the plow for my 130, just too much front end load for small tractors.

Hugh,

The Fisher pump was engineered for the plow. I think it flows three gallons per minute. The IH pump flows five times as much.

At the time, I was determined not to spend alot of money. On the whole project, I only bought one hydraulic fitting and shortened two hoses. A few sticks of 7018 too.

I wanted to conserve the IH valves. The tractor has a 560 fast hitch and a set of remotes. Although I have a bunch of IH valves, I didn't want the hassle of adding a third valve and trying to locate a lever. Ya, I could have used the remotes but we are back to a high flow thru a Fisher valve with 3/8" ports.

Everything works well and I wouldn't change anything except blade length which is currently eight feet. The plow frame is easy on/easy off in under ten minutes.

I'd like to get an 11' blade and add chains. A weather break would be nice.

Wardner: I kind of figured that 3 gpm would your answer. 660 probably had 12, maybe 17 gallon pump. If you grabbed the lever quick, probably snap top of blade into your grill.

It would be something like the forage harvester hydraulic spout direction I bought from New Holland, specifically designed for the 890 harvester 1,000 rpm pto only, thus in 75 one knew it was going to be 100 hp tractor or better. It had a 2" cylinder, spout was everywhere but in the wagon, plus it was so vicious when it was activated. I swear one could have used it for fly fishing. I put the 4" fast hitch cylinder from my 560 on there and the thing worked beautiful. Even the ram end was correct.

Sam, we are not that far apart. I am near Lowell, MA if you want to take a look.

I'll bet I got more snow than you. We are up to around two feet. Three storms in a week.

Did somebody recently post how well a Cub plows snow? This has been 'break your Cub' type accumulation.

Many thanks - I was over-engineering in my mind. These pics should be enough to get me going. I probably won't be able to get down to look at it, but thanks for the offer. That 660 alone looks worth checking out.

We are knee-deep snow out in the open. I had equipment put away and the yard ready, but mentally I wasn't ready for this yet!

The tractor is a Farmall. It has an F-11 loader with small bucket on it. I know the bigger buckets can be had out west, but I've never seen an F-11 in this neck of the woods. I considered slipping off the bucket and mounting the plow to the bucket pins, but am worried plowing will create too much twisting stress on the loader arms. The loader is in pretty good shape for an F-11, but it was slightly tweaked on both sides before I got it, where the lifting cylinders attach (same place you see many F-11's with gobs of welding).

Thanks for all the ideas!
Sam.

Think about a Two tube (4" schedule 40) under slung type with the rear attached to the 3pt (or FH) to allow it to be disconnected rapidly. The front would be raised by a lift cylinder on the front bolster. A 4" pipe extending down between two brackets on the plow frame keep it centered. We used this plow on a 350U for many years. ours had 1/3 "V" to the left, and 2/3 V to the right, allowing pretty good straight ahead plowing with a solid widening to the right on the subsequent passes. Might want to look at a UTV mount setup and blade, much easier to mount and less wear and tear on the tractor.

What's a UTV?
