Super A Rock Shaft Lift Link

I had asked and a few other had as well if there was a spring and/or how big the spring was on the lift link on a Super A. 140's have huge springs and I always figured the Super A must of had some type of spring.

Anyway, according to parts picture there wasnt a spring. I suspect this is why a lot of the lift link bars were bent.

Wonder why they made the collar like they did, sure looks like a spring should go there.

Just thought some of you Super A owners might want to know.

I agree a very high percentage don't have the spring. I also seen a few of what I considered to be after market springs, however they fitted in very well. It may have been an item you could always buy from IH. Another thought, it could be the implement or attachment the rockshaft came with. Even though most rockshafts were the same, they were ordered as part of the implement and not part of the tractor. You may find this info different in a plow parts book than in a cultivator parts book for example.

On my SA my uncle or father had welded a rather large washer on the lift link arm as a stop for the spring but there wasnt any spring. Bar was still bent when I found it in the barn where it had been for twenty or so years.

BTW they still showed the parts to be available if I remember correctly.

I added a spring to mine but I have seen lots of Super A's over the last two years that dont have one.

Its just one of those things that bugs me. lol
