Donkeys emit methane gas which would be the next problem... have to stick a catalytic converter up their south end when they're facing north...

Tata new model? triple price for crash standards, testing, etc. Smart car price here after certification is about double base price in Europe. Japanese 'Kei' cars have same situation, good mileage figures in domestic market but costs about double here after meeting standards- check early Honda civics. Cheap Indian import MAY be Bajaz 3 wheelers- can come in classed as motorcyle here, some advertised about $7,000. 175cc Kawasaki engine, another 250cc. RN

Add another zero to the price tag once the government gets its $0.02 worth in it and then it will get around 30MPG

I bought an old Camaro for $350.00 and put in a 400 s.b.c. leftover from the dirt car (with different cam!) and a junkyard overdrive tranny.

It'll get 23 m.p.g. if I keep my foot out of it!
I spent more on tires than I did on the car.

according to a news program I heard today, the safety requirements in the US cost more than the car does.

You mean "What will it cost here AFTER it's been modified to meet US emmissions and crash test requirements"!

we will never see it here. the big boys will keep it out in order to keep the price of vehicles inflated. the article I read said it will meet the emissions and safety requirements of the world markets.

I"d buy one for a grocery getter....I don"t like those tiny tires and I"d trade 60 mpg for 50 mpg and a 1000 cc (1 litre) engine and air conditioning!
