I have used A for 20 years to push snow. Blade is controlled by mechanical means. This is operated by left hand. Right now my lefty is not doing too good and snow is comin'. Is it likely I can reconfigure blade lift to right hand? or would hydraulics be necessary. Right now I can't get out to look at it. Also use belly mower in summer, but not absolutely necessary. Thanks a million to great guys on this forum.

Here's the setup on my BN. It has a fancy bracket that attaches to the generator.

The belt will slip from time to time but it needs a new belt.

A co-workers neighbor put a blade on his A. He used an ATV winch, mounted on the back of the tractor, with pulleys and cable to raise it.

Is yours 12 volt?

I mounted a blade to the right, right on front of my belly mower. It is angled somewhat. I had a hand lift that was a arm killer. I hooked up a 12 volt electric cable winch.I mounted that right under the seat. I put a pulley where the lower hand lift is, their was a bolt area. I connected the end of the cable to the belly mower. I can move the blade up or down with a button now. Works good for me. That hand lift got tough after a while!!! Steve

Small tidy remote resivoir pumps are found on Subaru and honda autos. They are not a problem to mount, and are by far less bulky. JimN

Easiest thing to do is reach over with both hands and pull. I'd imagine converting the lever to right-hand lift will require some metal fabrication.

Dave, I don't know about converting to right hand, but imagine it can be done. Hydraulics can be added with a power steering pump from a car or truck. Have seen lots of them rigged this way and work fine.

Years ago I had a B which also didn't have any hyds. on it and I rigged it up so I would have them. I used a power steering pump off an old Chev pick up and a control valve. I used it on the sickle mower I built to fit under the belly of it. I mowed hay with the rig for a good 5 years before I got a MOCO to replace it

Did you have a problem keeping the belt tight and was the fan pulley factory or a new one with bearings. I have wondered how long the original fan set-up would last as it was not made for that type of load just figured it would need the new replacement type.

Never had much problem with it. If you did hold the valve to long the belt would let you know and make noise but other then that I never had any problems with it

Thanks some day im going to do that i have two Bs with the CHARLYNN off the pto they work great. I have access to the power steering pumps from HONDAS and TOYOTAS they aren that big and with a bigger pulley for a v-belt look like they would be great. I have a 13x36 new lathe and also a milling machine plus mig and stick along with any other stuff needed. Also a 915 combine for sontrol valves and two cycls so i should be able ot make it work. Just another project to work on but im retired so its just fun but have a SC for a neighbor that he has put three heads on and it still leaks then mount a cult for an A for a guy who has wide front from the A ON IT. He raises Rhubarb and wants to cultivate it will have grass strip in between rows must be making tons of wine. Here i eastern IA next to CEDAR RAPIDS and IOWA city there are lots of small veggie operations as the farmers markets are booming. later my friend gene b and thanks

The power steering pump I used was off one of the bigger Chev trucks. That way the resievor was large enough to hold enough fluid to work well.

That would be ok also i just dont want too much sticking out below the generator. Would be easy to use large hand propane cycl for a res easy to hide. Do know where there would be a cult for a B in your area. I have a friend in COLUMBIA that wants one will be putting on a BN.

Well would you believe if all goes as planned I'll be going to look at a B on Saturday and it has cal. and a buzz saw. The story goes that he took his B to have it fixed and the person he took it to opened it up and then just left it laying around. The guy wants me to see if I can fix it and if I say it will cost to much he wants me to buy it and if I buy it I'll probably keep the buzz saw but sell the culs.
