Explain This?

I've heard people say that the wide fronts can't cross the SM,400 boundry to the 560s and newer.

How come?

The only difference is the "height/length" of those 4 mounting bolt bosses. Right? "Spacing" is still the same, isn't it?

Always wondered about that.

Allan

I think most of the differences are in the rear saddle and the steering arm. We put one off of an M on a 460 and just had to change the rear saddle. The following link shows the differences.

Allan all the bolt holes will line up.

But the height or plane that those 4 bolts under the front end are on are not the same height in relation to the frame rails.

Can't remember which one is higher, the M or the 560. But if you take it off one to put on the other you have to space between the front end and the bolster. And going the other way you have to space between the frame rails and the rear mounts bracket.

I think to put a wide front on the M, off of a 560, you have to space the frame rails.

I was backwards. You would have to space those 4 front bolts down 2.5" to put a wide front from a 560 to a M.

Check the pictures above.

They will fit. They have differences but they will fit.

Isn't there a length difference in the wishbone and bracket assembly?

I am under the impression that they WOULD interchange, but I've had no actual experience.

My catalog does show different part numbers for the complete assembly. It also shows that the price has gone up.
