In todays market $20,000 would be a bargain. I remember a pair sold at auction about 2 years ago for $25,000 each. They were absolutely beautiful and I wanted one badly but above my budget. For those who think that this way too much just try to buy one and have it restored and see what you have in it.Of course if you can do the work yourself and only value your time at $10/hr you will come out OK but not if you have to pay restoration shop wages.

Doing it myself is why I'm into this hobby -- otherwise I just sit and look at them. Parts costs alone exceeds $5000, probably more.

My personal "true" feelings have nothing to do with market price. To me they are worth no more than a stage 1 Super H, or maybe $2500-$3000 restored. Again that has NOTHING to do with the selling price. I have a Stage 2 Super H, not really restored, but excellent mechanically, very few leaks, new paint and tires, everything works. If it was for sale, I would ask $4000 or so -- that does not mean anyone would buy it. Also, I don't care for HV's and MV's which biases my estimate downward. I certainly do not object to the people that like them, I just think they go somewhat overboard on price. But, collecting does not have to make sense.

No sarcasm, but if you have to ask you can't afford it. $15000-up. I think one sold for $75000 a while back. That is ridiculous, but there were only 70 produced. However, I think the 75K one was a stage 2.

CNKS,

Are you sure on that $75,000? That number was hit several months ago on a SMTADV. It was sold by Aumann Auctions.

A couple years ago two SHV (stage 2) brought $20,000 each at auction. I think they might have had consecutive serial numbers

The Lane Freeman SMTAD High Crop, which sold in Sept 2006, was hauled off to the midwest (IL?) and resold by Aumann several months ago for &75.000.

If is the Auman auction I'm thinking of (the Lane Freeman collection) the SMDTAV brought $47,500. The SMV brought $32,000. The 75K tractor was the Titan 15-30. That was Sept '06. There may have been others sold since then.

Can't remember what I saw yesterday, much less when that tractor sold -- now I remember that SMDVTA, but $20000 for the SHV is still way out of my price range. There were 64 SMVTA's produced, that includes gas and diesel, the $75000 diesel would have been a very rare tractor. 4:30 PM, too early for bed.

I have problems too in the memory dept. In fact, those $20,000 tractors might have been 350 diesel high crops.

Focus factor. Don't know what it is but my kids keep saying it to me more and more. At least I am pretty sure they are my kids.
