Sure hope you don't have as much trouble getting that front pulley back on as I did. The old one broke and the new one had 7/1000 difference. I had to heat that sucker in the oven at 400 degrees for an hour to even get it to start back on the shaft. Maybe my next attempt will be easier.

See scott rukke' post below. I waited for Sweets to go out on errands, and put mine in the oven at 500* for an hour while she was out. I spent the oven time rolling the tractor down near the kitchen door so the pulley wouldn't hcool down too much.

I got away with that one.

I got caught on my ring gear. Again, Sweets was gonna be out. I quick-like put the flywheel in the freezer (that part went okay) and put the ring gear in the oven, again at 500. What I hadn't allowed for was the cosmolene on the ring gear.

Didn't get away with that one.

I don't think supporting the front by using a jack on the oil pan is a good idea, it may damage the pan.

You better get some support under the front of the engine as you are getting close to a wreck.

I appreciate the advice Gene. Perhaps I should have taken a picture after I had supported the front of the engine; she is quite well supported and secure. Believe me, I don't want any damage or injuries to occur.

IIRC, I think I put my cast wheels back on the rear before I mounted the engine. Then, after I replaced the stand under the torque tube with a jack, I was able to raise the front enough to get the front bolster back on. That worked out pretty well.

I guess you found that out when you hung the engine. The bell housing where it meets the block must be awfull close to balance point. Someday im going to take junk pieces and so forth and paint one and put it on a post so it can pivot next to the shop drive to see how much traffic will notice.
