Getting my crank turned, and getting new bearings. Here's a pic of what came out.

Made in the USA! I love this picture. My curiosity only- Anybody tell me what the numbers mean, if anything? Or a site where I can look it up myself? This is a '49 Super-A, and I'm wondering if these were the original bearings. 59 years old! How'bout it.

Here's the inside of the middle main-

How 'bout that too!

That could be the original since it's a standard
size bearing meaning the journal was never ground undersize. When I did an A the journals looked
like bronze or copper, but the shaft only needed to be polished and I had to use .002" undersize bearings. I bought them from the auto machine shop. The shaft looked very good for all the sludge I found in the pan and over the pickup screen on the oil pump. I would have that block cleaned if any of that bearing metal went through the engine. Hal

STD stands for standard. This means it is either the original, or the bearings were replaced without turning the crank, or the crank was replaced with standard sized journals.
I would say the pitting was from old oil not changed enough. It looks pretty good to me, having done its job. Polishing the crank if it is scored, might just let new standard inserts be used again. Good luck. JimN
