Micheal, Since its an A which should be well able to crank over n start at the original 6 volts (use 00 Gauge battery n starter n ground cables n a biggggg gg heavy rated battery) Id leave it at 6 volts. I agree with ny friends below, YOU NEED TO FIRST CONVERT FROM THE MAGNETO TO A REGULAR COIL DISTRIBUTOR IGNITION AND THENNNNN NNN CONVERT IT TO THE ELEC IGNITION. Once done then YES the elec switch unit fits easily right in place to replace the points n condensor. Then to get the most bang for the buck and to utilize the benefits the elec switch has to offer I highly recommend you use a high performance 6 volt coil (if they ofer one, otherwise use the stock 6 volt coil) as specified by the elec switch vendor that matches up with yur new elec switch. MAKE SURE N BUY THE ELEC SWITCH FOR 6 VOLTS AND ESPECIALLYYYYY YYYYY YYY TO MATCH YOUR TRACTORS GROUND (Pos or Neg) and then buy a high performance 6 volt coil to match the switch if they offer one (or the stock 6 volt coil will still work) Get a good working distributor,,,,, replace points n condensor with the new 6 volt CORRECT GROUND elec switch unit,,,,, ,,mount the new high performance or regular 6 volt coil,,,,, ,,wire it at the CORECT POLARITY (if Pos ground + wires to dist if Neg ground - wires to distributor) ,,,,, ,,,,, you will need an On/Off Ignition Switch of course installed near the dash (post back if you need help on that) You may wanna check with Pertronix Ignition to see if they offer a 6 volt elec switch and if so at Pos or Neg ground??? then if they offer their own matching coil. AGAIN BE SURE N GET TEH RIGHT VOLTAGE SWITCH AND THE CORRECT GROUND. If they only offer Neg ground and youre at Pos ground you will have to convert over !!!!! !! John T
