Its not leaking, its just marking its terrirtory! I know it is a sin to put a jd pic up on here, I am farmall man at heart, However I eventually want one nice tractor of each popular brand before I turn into worm food. hence the case and the jd, My H still needs to be done also, along with my wd 45 allis chalmers wide front, but red power is still my favorite!

I hae been installing GM power steering pumps on Ms. No need to remove rad.and shim the fan. They sit under hood and cannt even see them. They will turn a lot better than with the other type pump[one finger sitting still and you can spin the frt.wheels around.]

My GM pumps dont look like the same type pump that you have on your M. The Ford trucks used that type as I have gotten some off Fords and American Motors.

You can shorten the frame rails but you might have to take out the shims on your fan. Go ahead and try it TRUST ME !!!

Nah, it is easier to heat and bend the center bracket, shim the gauges, heat and bend the steering post, and grow longer arms. JimN

I'm glad to see you got the fan off ok!

Funny thing is, once again I had a similar problem on my super M, except the shaft was way short; tractor had previously had power steering, was gone when I got ahold of it. Lengthened shaft to restore steering function. Power steering not needed due to presence of single front wheel!

I loaned mine out and never got it back. They got my board stretcher too. Only thing I can think of would be if you could find some tubing the same size to bush up the shaft and a piece that would fit over it to use as a coupler between the pump and the shaft. Lee

use spacers to move the plate that mounts the gauges and steering motor ahead or spacers to move the motor ahead. the steering wheel will be closer to the throttle but it can be the "long arm edition" ;)

Allen. On my SMTA with the CharLyn, The pump, mounted on the governor lines up with the generator, and one belt drives the whole shebang. No shims for fan , no clearance problems. Maybe modify your pump mount? Are you mounting a loader on that M? I never understood the fascination with PS on the letter series. They drive like a dream without it. I own a bbwedge Barracuda w/o ps, once it's rolling you never know the difference.

Sure, if you are moving faster than a crawl the M will steer fairly easily. Have you ever tried backing up a wagon without powersteering? :-) NOT easy! I put powersteering on my M, steers like a dream now :-)

Really didn't wanna chop that original shaft, but guess I'll throw the fan, shroud and radiator back on, twist 'er tail and if everything is alright, will have to use it to make 'er go left turn, right turn.

if you dont wanna cut up a good shaft, why not get a length of cold roll bar stock and make a short extension shaft, add a collar, slide the shaft into the torque generator, then pin the collar to the shaft with roll pins doubled up. i think that shaft is 7/8 inch.
