I have a variety of attachments and implements, and I am trying to decide if I should paint them red to match the tractor if they are off brand or.. uggghh green, or if I should paint them up as original... like my 3 pt backhoe that was originally yellow, or my New idea snow blower.. I know there is really no right or wrong here, but I'm inclined to paint the off brand stuff to match the tractor.. especially if it is a no name brand... but I don't want a bunch of tractor guys thinking I'm an idiot...anyone have an opinion on this?

I have a 656 hydro diesel with:
front end loader
front forks
3pt backhoe
3pt snow blower
3pt boom hoist
3pt 8ft blade
3pt post hole driller

I call it my Swiss Army Tractor cuz of all the attachments...

If you are going to use the loader at night, paint it black. Other wise all you see when you turn on tractor lights is the white loader and cannot see area around. First thing I do when I get different loader is paint it black, no matter what color tractor I am putting it on.

I am in the same position as you are. I have both a WD Allis and a IH 656 D Gear Drive. I have a couple of home made implements and two John Deere Implements. One is a 6ML Land Leveler and the other is a Series 4000 Disc Harrow that you can read the saga on elsewhere (I havent gotten it home yet).

Here is what I am going to do and what "I" believe you should do, not what you have to do, it is your equipment you own it you do what you want with it! Since these items came from the factory painted a certain color that is the way they should remain. That is strictly my opinion. If you were so worried about the items being a matched set to start with you would have shopped for a matched set to begin with. For me, I shopped for the best value. If I could have found an International Disc Harrow for the price I just paid for the John Deere I would have gladly bought it! So I will pay homage to the good folks up at John Deere (even though they havent gotta clue what their data tags are used for since they didnt seem to keep any records) and paint the Land Leveler and Disc Harrow Green when they are gone through!

Joe

Are you going to sell any of it soon? If so, paint it correct so you don't confuse the buyers. Otherwise, do as you want. Incorrect color is better than rust.

I would try for as close as possible to factory original. If your loader is a Great Bend it was white: if it is Farmhand it is a shade of red. Armand

If it were me I would paint the loader white I think some of the IH loaders were. I know you said that it wasn't an IH but I still would. And maybe the snowblower too. But I think every thing else I would paint whatever you want. Just my 2 cents worth
